Maria Kay is an educational advisor specializing in language and literacy learning and teaching. She spends much of her time supporting teachers through classroom observation and the development and delivery of bespoke teacher training. Her doctoral research focuses on the promotion of foundational literacy skills through music. Maria is the author of several published books, including Sound Before Symbol, The A–Z of Spelling, and the Essential Steps to Literacy series. She has also contributed articles to Teach Early Years magazine and Early Years Educator.
