James W. Graham gives a behind-the-mast look at the connection in his new tome, “Victura: The Kennedys, a Sailboat and the Sea” (University Press of New England; $29.95).

The 25-foot sloop was purchased by Joseph Kennedy Sr. in 1932 as a gift to John F. Kennedy on his 15th birthday.
